New Cosmetic Dentures – False Teeth

Do you have missing teeth due to tooth decay, gum disease or injury? Dentures or false teeth may be the best solution for you. Dentures are made from lifelike resin teeth bonded to a plastic base. A denture can be custom-made to match your natural teeth.

There are several reasons why you should consider new dentures:

  • Dentures make it easier to speak, eat and drink
  • Dentures improve your appearance and make it easier to smile
  • Dentures prevent your facial muscles sag, helping you look younger

Dentures made with today’s technology can look so natural, people won’t be able to tell you’re wearing them. This is because your dentures are made to look like your original teeth.

Although dentures are synthetic, they need to be cleaned regularly at least once per day just as natural teeth need to be. This should be done with the dentures and using a cleaner and a brush. Additionally, new dentures may have to stay in your mouth overnight until the adjustment period is over.

Types of Dentures and Their Benefits

Dentures are replacements for your missing teeth and some of the surrounding tissue. There are two main types of dentures, let’s take a deep look at them.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are full dentures that reconstruct your complete set of teeth. While there are exceptions, these kinds of dentures are commonly used by seniors. They are custom-made after an individual’s teeth are removed, and the gums start to heal. There are two kinds of complete dentures: conventional dentures and immediate dentures.

  • Conventional dentures are made ready to place in a person’s mouth three months after their teeth have been removed.
  • The immediate dentures are prepared earlier so they can be inserted as soon as the patient’s teeth have been removed. They are your temporary teeth while waiting for your conventional dentures. Because they are worn during the healing period, and gums and bones shrink over time, they will need regular adjustments to fit comfortably.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are for replacing one or multiple teeth. These are used when the majority of your teeth are still present. They are typically used by younger people who have experienced tooth injuries or gum disease. Partial dentures can also be for older people who have lost some of their real teeth. With today’s technology, clasps no longer have to be attached to go around your real teeth. Speak with your Dental Prosthetist to find out more.
